God Is In Control

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 ESV

I got the opportunity to attend a special wedding in Florence, Italy. It was my first time going to Italy and I was so excited to attend this wedding. Just like most women I went on a hunt looking for a dress. Although I had several at home I could use, I started searching the internet for a dress. The first dress I found I really liked. I loved the color and it looked so elegant. I felt a peace from the Holy Spirit and I told my husband I was going to purchase that one. He said okay and off I went to buy the dress. When I pulled up my size online they were all sold out.

After that disappointing news, I decided I would wear a dress I already had. A couple months before the wedding we received an email from the bride and groom with a color pallet asking those attending the wedding to wear colors from that pallet because they were taking a big wedding party picture. I did not have any dresses in that pallet so I went shopping for a dress. The first dress God had shown me was in the color pallet but it was sold out and yet, I kept feeling like that was the dress I was supposed to wear.

Needless to say I went feverishly shopping for a dress and purchased one at a formal bridal shop. I was not all that excited about the dress but it was in the color pallet, so I bought it. I paid a substantial amount to have it altered. I felt like the Holy Spirit was telling me not to get this dress, but I did not feel like I had any other choice. Besides, we were on a short timeline. We were headed to Italy much earlier than the wedding so that we could take some time to tour it.

One week before we were to leave for Italy, my husband and I were at Men’s Warehouse and I saw the dress that I wanted to purchase in a picture they had on the wall. I pointed at the picture and showed my husband. He said to check the website and see if I could get it. When we got home I checked the website and they had one dress left in the color I wanted and one size left, mine!! I ordered the dress, they shipped it overnight and alterations were done three days before we were to leave for Italy. Later as I reflected on that experience God showed me that it was my inability to be patient and trust Him that took me all over the place. I ended up with the first dress God had shown me. I had prayed for direction. He had given it to me but because things did not appear to be answered I went off on this unnecessary journey instead of being patient and trusting God.

It does not matter what things look like, we must remember that our Father is in control.

The Importance Of The Cross (5)

“I have been crucified with Christ.” Gal 2:20 NKJV

The cross must become a vital part of your everyday life. Why? Because you have three relentless enemies you must overcome each day: sin, Satan, self. How do you overcome them? By living the crucified life. Paul writes, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” You say, “It’s too difficult to live a Christian life!” No, it’s not difficult…it's impossible. The only way is to let the power and person of Christ live through you. That’s why Paul wrote, “God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (Gal 6:14 NKJV). After years in a Russian labor camp, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn became so depressed that he wanted to die. Laying his shovel down, he walked over to a bench and sat down, knowing that any moment a guard could come by and use the shovel to beat him to death. It was then that a fellow inmate took a stick, and in the sand at Solzhenitsyn’s feet traced out the sign of the cross. As he stared at it, his entire perspective shifted. Realizing the cross represented the greatest power in the universe, he slowly got up, picked up his shovel, and went back to work under the sign of the cross. And you must do that too. Each day, remind yourself: “Jesus died for me. I died with Him. When I die to me, He lives in me. When He lives in me, I can live for Him.” That’s the secret of a victorious Christian life.

The Importance Of The Cross (4)

Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord; so what wisdom do they have? Jer 8:9 NKJV

You will never understand the message of the cross, or receive the benefits of salvation that come from the cross, until you first kneel at the cross and receive Jesus Christ as you personal Savior. The story is told of a great preacher who was touring Italy. A friend told him to go to a certain village and see a painting of the crucifixion of Christ. “What is it like?” he asked. His friend said, “Never mind what it is like, I want you to see it. Please promise me you will.” He replied, “I will.” He went to the village and visited the chapel where the painting was. The old caretaker said, “You’ve come to see the painting, haven’t you?” he said, “Why, yes I have.” The caretaker responded, “Follow me.” The great preacher was not prepared for what he was about to see. Instead of a beautiful masterpiece, the painting seemed all out of proportion and didn’t make sense. “I don’t understand this painting,” he said. The caretaker replied, “Come closer.” He did. The caretaker said, “Get lower.” He did. Finally, as he was kneeling at the foot of the cross, he looks up and saw the power and beauty of the painting and was reduced to tears. It’s only when you lay aside your pride, your preconceived notions, and your intellectual approach, and humble yourself, that the message of the cross transforms you. “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1Co 1:18 NKJV).

The Importance Of The Cross (3)

“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.” 1Co 1:18 NKJV

God dying on the cross for our sins sounds like “foolishness” to some people. Their philosophy is “if I cannot understand it, I won’t accept it.” That’s where they get it wrong. Salvation comes through faith alone. “Unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven” (Mt 18:3 NKJV). Simple, childlike faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross is all that’s required. The story is told of a college student whose professor gave him zero on the test. Upset, he said, “I don’t deserve this grade.” That’s how God feels about our wisdom. “The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God” (1Co 3:19 NKJV). One day a man stood on the roof of his house during a flood, and prayed, “God, please save me.” Soon a rowboat came by and offered to take him to safety. But he said, “No, God will take care of me.” The waters kept coming up until they were almost at his waist. Suddenly a helicopter appeared overhead and a rope ladder was lowered down. “Oh no, God will take care of me.” Soon after that man drowned. When he stood before God, he said, “Why didn’t you save me?” God responded, “I sent you a rowboat and a helicopter. What else did you want?” At the cross, God did everything required to save you. All you have to do is trust in Christ and receive the gift of eternal life.

The Importance of the Cross (1)

God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” Gal. 6:14

It’s interesting that in the Bible Jesus doesn’t ask us to remember His birth or His resurrection, although we know we should, but He tells us to remember His death. When He instituted the Lord’s Supper, He said, “This do in remembrance of me” (Lk 22:19). Paul said, “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The cross, like the gallows and electric chair, is an instrument of death. So why glory in it? Because of what took place there. When Jesus said, “it is finished,” all your sins from the cradle to the grave were paid for. So the cross is God’s first and last word when it comes to salvation. It’s His first word because Jesus was “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Rev 13:8). And the cross is God’s last word about salvation, for in heaven they will sing. “Thou wast slain, and has redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue and people, and nation” (Rev 5:9). There is no “plan B” for salvation. The only highway that goes to heaven goes through Calvary. You can’t bypass the cross or go around it if you want to be saved. The Bible says, “Without shedding of blood [there] is no remission [for sin]” (Heb 9:22). As you look at the cross today, you’ll see the curse of sin, the cost of sin, and the cure of sin. And as you look at the cross, remind yourself: “He did it for me.”

The Blood

I have been sitting with my thoughts resting on the blood of Jesus. I was taking communion one day and as I looked at the cup of juice that represented the blood of Jesus, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Salvation waited on you.” Salvation is a gift that anyone can receive and it has been waiting on any one of us who is lost. The more I meditated on the blood the more overwhelmed my heart became.

We were all so full of sin and there was absolutely nothing we could do to get out of sin. Even if  we tried to do everything right we are not capable of doing so because we have the mind of the enemy. Before accepting Jesus Christ, our father was Satan. How dreadful is that thought, but it is so true. We were born in sin and shaped in iniquity. Before believing in Jesus Christ, Satan was the only father we could ever have! Jesus told the Jews that if they were not followers of him, then Satan was their Father.

There was a huge debt to be paid for us to be freed from the shackles of Satan. The blood of a righteous one with no sin was required to pay the debt. How could we ever free ourselves? That is why the blood of Jesus is so important. He came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on a cross and paid the price for our sins with His blood so we could be free. When we accept Him as our Savior we are coved by His blood and the grips of Satan are released.

Scriptures says “and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.” (Revelation 12:11) Our lives are free in the blood of Christ Jesus! Amen!

Lovin’ Me

I was working in my office when the Holy Spirit prompted me to play some encouraging music in the background while I was working. So I pulled up YouTube and started playing some of my favorite artists. YouTube will just keep playing songs or artists you like based on what you selected; if you don't stop it. I was so focused on my work that I was not really hearing the music, when all of a sudden this song Lovin’ Me started playing. I just replayed it over and over again!

It’s just like God to send us a message about his love when we need it the most! The song said that God loves us regardless of what we have done, and He loves us when we least deserve it. The message took me all the way back to how Jesus died for us when we were in our sin. I just sat and meditated on that thought for a while. The song truly blessed my soul! I know I have heard it before, but it spoke to my spirit differently this time. I actually stopped what I was working on to write this short blog so that I would not forget to send it to you all.

I pray that this song wakes up your spirit like it did mine and causes you to release a holy praise to our Father as the words minister to your soul!

This message is so powerful! Enjoy!

Christmas

I have heard many complaints from individuals about why we should not celebrate Christmas. Three of the top reason I hear are: 1) Christmas is a pagan holiday, 2) Jesus was not born on December 25th, and 3) everyone gets wrapped up in the commercialism of Christmas and they don’t even know the true meaning of why we celebrate Christmas.

All three of the reasons listed above are true, but I like Apostle Paul said when he was writing to the church in Philippi, “It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice.” Philippians 1:15-18, NIV

There is only time in the world that you will see a nativity scene set up in the mall, outside peoples homes, and even in grocery stores. Everywhere you look when shopping for Christmas decorations right beside Santa Clause and all the other decorations is the manger with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. Why in the world would we as Christians complain? Like Apostle Paul said it does not matter how the message gets out to the world. Someone is hearing about the birth of Jesus and maybe for the first time!

Hail the Lion of Judah!

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Revelations 5:1-5

Nothing but shots of joy and praise come to my heart when I read this scripture! John is on the island of Patmos (Revelations 1:10) and God has reveled to him some of the things that will happen in heaven. The scroll that is being addressed in the scripture is the title deed to our life. When Adam and Eve sinned back in the garden they broke our covenant relationship with God. Satan actually became the owner of our lives. That is why scriptures say we are born in sin and shaped in iniquity (Psalm 51:5).

John weeps when it appears that no-one can open this title, but the elder tells him to look the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David has triumphed.  The elder is talking about Jesus who is from the blood line of David and David is from the tribe of Judah and Judah is the fourth son of Jacob. Scripture says that Jesus came to the earth as lamb to the slaughter (Isaiah 53:7)  but he returns to the earth the Lion of Judah because Jesus concurred death. He went down to Hades and took back the keys to our life! O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?[a]”For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ (1Corinthians 15:55-57). Hail the Lion of Judah!!

In the US once a year we celebrate our independence from the British, which is a huge affair. The country has made this day a national holiday and American’s observe this day with all kinds of parades, fireworks and acknowledgements to those who made sacrifices to give us this freedom.  However, there is nothing in this world that is more worthy of celebration than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He freed us from eternal damnation and offers us all eternal life! Hail the Lion of Judah!!!  Amen!

I have added this song by Beverly Crawford called the Lion of Judah. Pretty powerful song, I think you will enjoy it! https://youtu.be/HmNAbpYtfmw

The Real Story of Christmas

“All who heard it were amazed.” (Lk 2:18 NIV)

To fully appreciate the story of Christmas, you must look at three things: (1) Who God called to tell the story. Shepherds! In first-century Palestine they were considered to be the lowest in society. Yet God picked them to tell the greatest story. Perhaps that’s because some of us would have debated the story or even denied it. Not them: “They spread the word” (Lk. 2:17 NIV). This answers the question, “Can God use someone like me?” Yes, you don’t need to be a scholar. Just tell people what you’ve seen and heard, and the change Jesus has made in your life. (2) The response of those who heard the story. “All who heard it were amazed.” The grace of God is amazing: “God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation”. (2 Co 5:19, NIV). The gospel is not good advice, it’s good news! Your sin debt is cancelled; your books are reconciled, and now you can have a personal relationship with God by putting your trust in Christ. It doesn’t get any better! (3) Mary’s part in the story. “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Lk 2:19 NIV). She wanted to understand what God was doing, and how it related to her. And you need to do that too. God doesn’t change, but He moves, and you have to stay in step with Him. There were many things Mary didn’t understand about God’s will, but she accepted and obeyed it. And that’s what God is asking of you too.

Harvest

Harvest
Then He said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38

I always thought of the harvest as the best time ever. Whenever I read the first part of the scripture above I would think bring on the harvest! I never noticed the second part of the scripture which says, “ask the Lord of the harvest to send out “WORKERS” into his harvest”. It never occurred to me that the harvest was WORK! I guess I kind of expected God to drop the harvest in my lap and I would just enjoy it.

Clearly, I missed the part about working the harvest. But that makes so much sense. Whenever a harvest comes if you want the fruit you have to pick it right? God’s parables are so simple that sometimes we miss the message.

I heard this message by Seven Furtick  Harvest Problems. In his message God reveals to the listener that what we see as our problem, God is calling it our harvest. I pray you enjoy this word!

Alignment

Today is tape day and of course I woke up with all kinds of crazy attacks in my head. When we have our minds set to do the work for which God has called us; we must expect the attacks. I don’t like the attacks. I don’t want the attacks, but they will always be there. This morning I took my communion and I gave everything to God.

I have learned that by taking communion for almost anything I set out to do brings that thing into alignment with God. When I take communion I am saying, “God I need your covering over this situation and I only want what you have prepared.” Scripture says that God knows everything about us. He knows exactly what we are going to say before we say it. Therefore, I believe the best way to move is to consultant the Master and seek his covering.

We all know that God is always with us, but when we take the step to acknowledge God in certain situations with communion, according to The Power of Communion by Beni Johnson

“It is a Holy spirit-inspired physical action that disrupts the atmosphere. When we use Communion as a tool for intercession, we are not only realigning ourselves with Christ, but we are also proclaiming the reality of Heaven over every area of our lives.” Satan is always on the prowl and we can do something to disrupt his atmosphere!

Our Father

I have been reading a book, Could you not Tarry One Hour? by Larry Lea. In this book, the author discusses praying for one hour. The subject of the book is taken from the scripture where Jesus is asking his disciples to pray with him for one hour but they fall asleep (Mathew 26:39-41). The book goes on to speak about the Lord’s Prayer (Luke 11:2). As I am reading the prayer, God speaks into my spirit and says, “Write the meaning of “our,” so listed below for you is the definition.

Our

determiner

possessive pronoun: our

1. belong to or associate with the speaker and one or more other people

      previously mentioned or easily identified

“Jo and I had our hair cut”

ï Belonging to or associating with people in general

“when we hear a sound, our brains identify the source quickly”

2. Used by a writer, editor or monarch to refer to something belonging to or associate with himself or herself

“we want to know what you, our readers, think”

God intentionally told us to start our prayer with “Our” because he wanted us to understand and know that we belonged to Him. He wanted us confident that we are indeed His and He is ours. We are His possession. When we say, “Our Father” we belong to God. I’ve also listed the definition of “belong” for you below:

Belong

verb

1. be the property of

“the vehicle did not belong to him”

synonyms: be around by, be the property of, be the possession of, be held by, be in

      hands of

“the house belongs to his mother”

2. be a member or part of (a particular group, organization, or class)

“they belong to garden and bridge clubs”

God has confirmed to us that although Satan tries to make us feel lonely and unloved we can be confident that we are His. He has purposely given us confidence every time we say our prayers that we belong to the most high God of the universe: Adonai!  Hallelujah!

Our Father, thank you for this confidence and assurance that we belong to you! We love you Lord. Amen

Affirmations: Matthew 10:20; Luke 24:32; Ephesians 6:19, Isaiah 55:11

Eight People

And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood Genesis 7:7, KJV

Only eight people were saved out of the whole world! I looked back in scripture and people knew God! Enoch lived 365 years and he was no more because God took him because He walked with God. Scripture says When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever…Genesis 6:1-3, ESV.

People knew God and probably thought they were holy and righteous yet they did not make it on the ark. My heart is heavy as God brings this revelation to me. It is now 5:00 am and I’ve been up for awhile just listening to God speak to me about the hearts of man. Scripture says  “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness” Matthew 7:21-23.

Family, if God only saved eight people out of the whole world when He brought the flood on the earth what makes us think that we have it all together. It is imperative that we do as Jesus commanded and follow the will of our Father. As we see in scripture casting out demons and prophesying does not get us into heaven. The will of the father according to scripture is  For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:40, ESV And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39, ESV

Scripture also teaches that when Jesus returns it will be like a thief in the night (1 Thessalonians 5) which means we have to always be in obedience to what God has commanded so we are not left behind when he comes.

Father, thank you for this powerful word that reminds us nothing is more important in this world than to do your will. Please help us to not get distracted by the cares of this world but to stay in your will. In Jesus Name amen.
