Seed time and Harvest time
You reap what you sow… Galatians 6:7
I was laying in bed about one o’clock in the morning and the Holy Spirit started to speak to me. He said, “You reap what you sow,” and he began to show me in the spirit how that works. I had planted some bell pepper seeds in my garden and I realized that the only thing that I could produce out of that seed was bell peppers. I could not get apples, lemons or anything else; only bell peppers.
He then showed me that every time I did or said something, I’m sowing seeds and those seeds would eventually produce fruit. He said, “The seeds were just like my bell pepper seeds that were planted in the ground and produced bell peppers. I started to reflect back on my life, such as: what I had done and spoken over my life, how I did things, treated people, did my work, prayed and exercised. All those things I had done in life was producing the seeds that I had sown. I immediately started praying seeking God on how to sow differently.
He showed me that even my attitude, or how I spoke about others behind their backs were still seeds that were being sown and would produce fruit in my life! The scripture says that to, “Be slow to speak, quick to listen and slow to anger,” came rushing to my mind. Then I remembered God’s word when Moses told the Israelites the LORD your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statues and his commandments, which I command you…be carful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly… the LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and all your might. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them whey you sit in your house, and when you walk by the ways, and when you lie down, and when your rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorpost of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6, ESV Basically God was telling the Israelites if they love God with all their heart, mind and soul and obeyed his word they were planting seeds of success and it would go well for them.
Those same instructions apply to us today. If we keep our minds focused on the word of God and do what he says we will enjoy the harvest. The Bible is clear that there will always be seed time and harvest time, we just need to decide what harvest we want to reap. For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…Ecclesiastes 3:1, ESV
