He Leads Us
…he leads me beside quiet waters…Psalm 23:2, NIV
The more time you spend with someone, the more you recognize their voice, their personality, their character, their likes and dislikes. You can tell immediately when they want to say something, or if they are uncomfortable. I can look at my husband and tell if something is wrong.
The Holy Spirit is the same way. The more time we spend with him the more we will get to know him. He prompted my niece and I to go to the hospital and pray over people. We both knew that God was directing us, but we had no idea where in the hospital he wanted us to go. We had peace about the hospital we were supposed to go to, but after that we both did not have any other direction.
When we got out of the car, we noticed this organization with big signs complaining about the work situation of employees in the hospital. There were about four people each standing at the end of each one of their large displays describing the issues with their establishment. The last time God sent us to the hospital, we were lead to the emergency room. So we decide to head in that direction.
As we walked past the those four individuals, I started to feel differently. There was something moving in my spirit. We had parked a ways from the hospital and while walking up there my spirit was fine until we started to walk past them. See God was speaking to my spirit. He was saying something, but I was so focused on getting to the hospital that I ignored the feeling. Then I heard him say, “Ask them if they would like prayer." I kept walking, but as I walked I begin to feel every step grow heavier. I stopped and told my niece that we have to go back and ask them if they would like prayer.
God was teaching me another way to know his voice. He was letting me feel his direction as I walked past them. The whole time my niece and I were walking up to the location, we were talking and just having a great conversation. But as soon as we started to walk past them, God started to speak. I knew it, I could feel it, but I was not sure how to move with it. God’s presence is so strong that when we pay attention we can literally feel him guiding us. The scripture says that the Lord leads me into green pastures. He was holding my hand and leading me and when I tried to keep going he put pressure on my feet so I would follow his direction!
Take aways:
God is not in a box. He moves in many different ways.
The Holy Spirit is with you forever, take time to know him.
