Freedom
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36, NIV
Today my husband decided he was going to preach a message to me about freedom. It was so funny listening to him tell me about the word. He can be so serious, yet very funny at the same time. We had both listened to something he found on YouTube about prisoners who had come to know Christ while in prison.
There were several prisoners giving their testimony about how they came to know Christ. All of them had done serious crimes in their youth and were all serving life sentences. They cannot change their circumstances, but they were so thankful that Jesus died for them! One of them said that he may be locked up in prison, but he was free in Jesus Christ!
As my husband and I reflected on the testimonies given by these men of God, my husband in his preaching voice repeated what one of them said: “Just because you are locked up does not mean you cannot be free. If you don’t have Christ as your personal savior, you are locked up in sin, even though you are not locked up in jail. You are not truly free!” A very powerful message!
